A GUID New Year tae ane an' awe etc. Well, her we are,
newy arrived in 2017 – so, what can we expect from Scottish Fitba
in this brand New Year?
Well, nothing original or earth-shattering, as far as I
can see. I strongly suspect, it will be the same-old, same-old as far
as our dying national game is concerned:
CELTIC will win the League – the question is, by how
many points.
RANGERS will finish second, but, how far behind?
CELTIC will almost-certainly win the Scottish Cup for a
Treble.
I can see DUNDEE UNITED and HIBS replacing INVERNESS CT
and KILMARNOCK in the top flight, come the end of the season
SCOTLAND'S World Cup qualifying campaign will be the
usual two steps forward – one step back trip, leading to eventual
non-qualification.
The performance graph, which has been going steadily
downhill since the 1950s will continue
Scottish football is going nowhere, except to Hell in a
hand-cart anytime soon. The will to make the necessary changes, to
take this moribund game by the scruff of the neck and shake it up,
somply does not exist within the Hampden Corridors of Power. And,
until the mood for change, and the willingness to implement change
takes root there, we will continue to be a laughing stock.
So, as I stand, just inside the threshold of this New
Year – forrit though Ah canna see – Ah guess and fear, for the
future of your great game.
We're awe doomed, doomed Ah tell ye!
It's your cheeriness that I canny stand!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours.!
